Who we are

icooa (“we”, “us”) is a local professional and business discovery app for Australia. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

Information we collect

Account details: your name, email address and authentication identifiers when you sign up (email, Google or Apple sign-in).

Profile content: anything you add to your profile — photos, bio, professions, links and, for businesses, your service area and availability.

Location: the suburb you choose. For business profiles this includes approximate coordinates used to place you on the map and calculate distance. Public (consumer) accounts are never shown on the map.

Business verification: if you apply to become a Verified Business we collect your ABN and business details and check them against the public Australian Business Register.

Messages: when you message another user, we store those messages so we can deliver them, show your conversation history, and help keep icooa safe — for example, investigating reports of fraud, scams or abuse. We never sell your messages or use them for advertising.

Usage data: basic device and app-usage information to keep the app working and secure.

How we use your information

To create and run your account; to show relevant businesses near you; to enable messaging and bookings; to verify businesses; to process subscriptions and payments; to keep the service safe and prevent fraud or abuse; and to meet our legal obligations.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run icooa, including Google Firebase (authentication, database, file storage and notifications) and our payments providers for subscriptions and transactions. Other users see the information you choose to put on your public profile. We may disclose information where required by law.

Storage and security

Your data is stored using Google Firebase, which may process and store information on servers outside Australia. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect it, but no system is perfectly secure.

Your choices and rights

You can access or update most of your information directly in the app. You can delete your account at any time, which removes your profile from icooa. You may ask us for a copy of your information or to correct it by contacting us. You can turn push notifications off in your device settings.

Children

icooa is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the “last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
