I'm not a tradie. Is this for me?
Yes. icooa is for anyone locals book or buy from — hairdressers, dog groomers, photographers, cleaners, personal trainers, mobile beauty, tutors, mechanics, physios, florists, small shops. If someone would search for you by suburb, you belong on the map.
How many customers are on icooa right now?
Not many, and we're not going to pretend otherwise. We're filling the map first, suburb by suburb, then pushing it to customers, because sending people to a half-empty map is how these things die. What you get in the meantime is a page of your own, and a profile that's already sitting there when locals do start searching.
What does it cost?
Right now, nothing. icooa is free for every business while we build the map — the profile, the page at icooa.app/yourname, messaging customers back, quoting and invoicing. The customer side is free too, and always will be. The first 100 businesses to publish a profile — our founding members — are free for life. For everyone after that, it stays free until there are 1,000 businesses on the map; then a paid business profile starts, with notice well before anything is charged, at whatever price we've published at the time (today's planned figure is $14.99 a month). There is never a commission on your work and never a charge per enquiry. The full picture is here.
Do I need an ABN?
You need one for the verified badge, which we check against the Australian Business Register. It's the thing that tells a customer you're a real business rather than a name on a screen.
I already have a website. Why would I want this?
Because they do different jobs. Your website is where people go once they know your name; your icooa page is where they find you when they don't, and it puts you on a map alongside reviews they can trust. Plenty of people link one to the other.
Can I actually get paid through it?
If you want to. Send a quote, turn it into an invoice, take card payment, GST handled. The money goes to your account — icooa doesn't sit in the middle of it. If you'd rather keep invoicing the way you do now, that's fine too.
How do reviews work?
A review only unlocks after a job has genuinely been paid for. Both sides write theirs blind, so neither of you can wait and see. It's slower than the usual star-rating free-for-all, and that's the point.
What if I want out?
Delete the profile whenever you like — nothing to cancel and no notice period. Your page comes down with it. Anything you uploaded is yours, and you keep the photos. And if paid profiles start one day and you decide not to, your page simply comes off the map until you're back; nothing is deleted.
